Haiti's Modern Day Government
After Toussain't capture, Dessaline's now took control. But his government wasn't effective. The Revolution, though successful, stripped the political background needed to rule a land. Today, Haiti is still a land of inequality, having a big gap between the rich and the poor, because the land continued to be governed in the same way Toussaint and Dessaline did.
Influence to Get Rid of Slavery
The Haitian Revolution was the first successful slave revolt
in the western hemisphere that started before 1800. So it influenced some other
lands with slaves. In America slaves were
influenced by the revolt which led to a fight for their independence in 1861.
It also led to the banning of slavery in France and Britain in the 1830s and
1849.
